Gurugram: An official said that a mentally unstable woman ended her life by jumping off the 14th floor of a residential society in the Sector 62 area on Monday. The women was 27-year-old. The women was identified as Shivika.

She was a native of Jhunjhunu in Rajasthan, was a bachelor and had been living in the society for the last five years. Police said that Shivika jumped off the balcony of her father’s flat situated on the same floor of the building, which has around 42 floors.

The incident happened around 10am on Sunday. The security guards and residents rushed her to a hospital where doctors declared her dead, police said.

A police officer from Sector 65 said, “Earlier, the family had lived in a flat in Sector 62. It remained unclear whether her sister’s fall was accidental or deliberate. However, the event profoundly affected Shivika’s emotional well-being. She was receiving medical care at Fortis hospital. Her body has been sent for autopsy.”

Shivika’s father Manoj works for a logistics firm in the city and has rented a flat in the building. According to her family, Shivika had been suffering from a mental health problem since the death of her younger sister, who too had killed herself by jumping off a building in the same area four years ago.

Inspector Santosh Kumar, SHO, Sector 65 Police Station said,”No suicide note was found from the spot. We handed over the body to kin after the post mortem.”
