New Delhi: Due to the collapse of a coal mine of BCCL in Jharia Koylanchal of Dhanbad, Jharkhand, about one and a half dozen people who were secretly extracting coal were buried. Of these, three people were reported dead, while 14-15 people were injured. The accident took place early morning today in the mine located at a place called Bhaura. An outsourcing company named Devprabha gets mining done in this mine.
According to the information, a large number of people extract coal by illegal mining. This morning the shaft (roof) of the mine suddenly caved in. After this there was hue and cry on the spot. Two of them died on the spot. Another person is reported to have died later. Eight-ten people were pulled out from under the coal debris with the help of the local people.
Some of these injured are being treated in local hospitals. Here, after the accident, angry people jammed the gate in front of the BCCL Bhora area office by placing both the dead bodies and protested fiercely, demanding compensation. The local people alleged that the smugglers were getting coal mined illegally in connivance with the CISF and the local police.
Inspector Vinod Oraon of Jorapokhar police station, who reached the spot, said that many people have been reported buried in illegal mining. The police is investigating the matter He said that the mouth of illegal mining is being filled.
