Actor Swara Bhaskar Joins Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Nyay Sankalp Padyatra’ in Mumbai

Mumbai: In a show of solidarity and support, actor Swara Bhaskar joined Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Nyay Sankalp Padyatra’ in Mumbai on Sunday morning. The padyatra, part of the ‘Jan Nyay Padyatra’ initiative led by Rahul Gandhi, commenced from the historic Mani Bhavan, the residence of Mahatma Gandhi in south Mumbai.

Walking Alongside Political Leaders

Accompanying Mr. Gandhi were his sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and Tushar Gandhi, the great-grandson of Mahatma Gandhi. A video shared by the Congress on its official X account captured the moments as Swara Bhaskar walked alongside the political leaders during the padyatra.

Objective of the Padyatra

Speaking to reporters during the foot march, Swara Bhaskar highlighted the significance of the yatras led by Mr. Gandhi – ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ and ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra’. She emphasized the objective of unifying the country, stating, “The country has been suffering from a disease for the last 10 years and that is hatred.” Bhaskar praised Mr. Gandhi’s efforts to connect with people and understand their concerns, noting his commitment to listening to the voices of the people.

Continuing the Legacy of ‘Bharat Jodo’

The ‘Nyay Sankalp Padyatra’ is a continuation of the ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra’ which Rahul Gandhi concluded after a 63-day journey. This yatra, initiated from violence-affected Manipur on January 14, is part of Gandhi’s endeavor to engage with citizens across the country, seeking to bridge divides and promote unity. The padyatra route traces a significant historical path, starting from Mani Bhavan to the August Kranti Maidan, where the iconic Quit India movement began in 1942 during India’s struggle for independence from British rule.

Support from Opposition Members

Adding to the spirit of the padyatra, members from the opposition INDIA bloc also joined Rahul Gandhi as the foot march progressed through Mumbai’s streets. Swara Bhaskar, who had previously participated in Mr. Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra in December 2022, reiterated the importance of such initiatives in fostering unity and recalling the nation’s foundation built on ‘mohabbat’ (love).
