In a distressing incident, the Assam Police arrest an 18 year old man on Thursday for the alleged rape of a 5-year-old girl in the Chirang district. The incident occurred on Wednesday, and the arrest followed a complaint filed by the minor girl’s family.
Assam Police Arrest 18 Year Old for Alleged Rape. According to the registered complaint, the girl was playing outside her house when the accused youth took her to his residence and assaulted her. The Assam Police took swift action, invoking the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) to detain the accused, who is set to be produced before the court on Friday, as confirmed by a senior police officer.
Statements from both the accused and the minor victim have been recorded, with further investigations underway. Chirang Superintendent of Police (SP) Pranjit Borah assured that the findings would be submitted to the court as part of the ongoing legal process.
