Bengaluru: Police said that a 46-year-old man stabbed a 26-year-old woman to death in a park in south Bengaluru on Thursday. He added that the victim’s mother stabbed him to death in Jayanagar area while trying to save her daughter.
Police said the deceased were identified as Suresh, 44, a resident of Goraguntepalya, and Anusha, 25, who resided in Shakambari Nagar. They had known each other for five years, they said.
Initial investigations revealed that Anusha and Suresh had a fight in the park as she started distancing herself from him, which he did not take well. Police said that she did not want to have any relationship with him.
A senior police officer said that they met in the park, where he allegedly stabbed her twice. He added that before leaving her house, Anusha had told her mother that she was going to meet someone in the park for five minutes and would return soon.
He also said that suspecting something amiss, the mother followed her daughter to the park and saw Anusha being stabbed in front of her. Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Lokesh Bharamappa Jagalasar said Anusha and Suresh were murdered at Sarakki Park in Jayanagar around 4.45 pm.
He said, “Based on the investigation so far, it appears that Suresh stabbed Anusha. Anusha’s mother rushed to save her and in this attempt, she hit Suresh on the head with a stone, killing him on the spot. We are questioning an eyewitness in the case.”
He said that Anusha was seriously injured, suffering one injury on her chest and one on her neck. She was declared dead at the hospital. the DCP said, “Both knew each other from their workplace. Anusha was a caretaker, while Suresh worked in an event management company. Anusha was trying to keep a distance from him, which led to the incident.”
After the incident,Police said two separate cases have been registered in connection with the incident and the deceased’s mother is being questioned. He added that further investigation is underway.
