Earthquake of 4.5 magnitude hits Leh and Ladakh region, no casualties reported

Ladakh: On Tuesday early morning, the National Center for Seismology said that a earthquake of magnitude 4.5 hit the Leh and Ladakh region. People were sleeping when the tremors jolted the hilly region in the wee hour. The earthquake occurred at around 4.33 am.

Ladakh: On Tuesday early morning, the National Center for Seismology said that a earthquake of magnitude 4.5 hit the Leh and Ladakh region. People were sleeping when the tremors jolted the hilly region in the wee hour. The earthquake occurred at around 4.33 am.

On social media platform X National Center for Seismology said,”Earthquake of Magnitude:4.5, Occurred on 26-12-2023, 04:33:54 IST, Lat: 34.73 & Long: 77.07, Depth: 5 Km ,Location: Leh, Ladakh.”

The NCS took to microblogging site X and said the epicentre was at 5 km depth. The epicenter of the earthquake was found to be at latitude 34.73 and longitude 77.07. The agency also said that an earthquake of magnitude 3.7 on the Richter Scale hit the nearby Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir.

According to the National Center for Seismology, this earthquake occurred at around 1.10 am at a depth of 5 km. However,there were no casualty or loss of property has been reported so far.
