EC Directs Deployment of Additional CAPF Companies for Free and Fair Elections in West Bengal

In preparation for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections 2024 in West Bengal, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has taken decisive action. The ECI has instructed the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) to deploy an additional 100 companies of Central Armed Paramilitary Forces (CAPF) to ensure the integrity of the electoral process.

In preparation for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections 2024 in West Bengal, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has taken decisive action. The ECI has instructed the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) to deploy an additional 100 companies of Central Armed Paramilitary Forces (CAPF) to ensure the integrity of the electoral process.

West Bengal, with its significant 42 parliamentary seats, will undergo voting across all seven phases. Currently, the Home Ministry has already mobilized 55 companies of the CRPF and 45 companies of the Border Security Forces under the directives of the ECI.

The deployment of the extra 100 CAPF companies is slated for completion by April 15, as per official sources. This proactive measure aims to maintain peace and fairness during the electoral proceedings.

In another news, the person in charge of the state, Governor CV Ananda Bose, said that while some parts of West Bengal have problems with violence, it’s not the fault of the current government. He said the issues are from a long time ago.

He visited a place called Sandeshkhali and saw that women wanted peace but were not feeling safe. He said the situation in some places is not good but the whole state is not like that. He said it’s important to talk respectfully about these issues with the government.
