This decision, making it the first Congress-led state among the three, ensures the closure of all schools, colleges, universities, and public offices, allowing employees to partake in the festivities surrounding the Ram Lalla Pran Pratishtha.

Himachal Pradesh Government Declares Full Holiday Pran Pratishtha Event. The official notice states, “It is hereby notified that the full day of 22nd January 2024, (Monday) shall be observed as a public holiday in all departments/boards/corporations/schools/colleges/universities/etc. of Himachal Pradesh government to enable employees on the occasion of Ram Lalla Pran Pratishtha at Ayodhya. The above holiday will be applicable to the daily wage employees.”

This decision stands in contrast to the stance taken by the Congress leadership, which declined the invitation to the ceremony. The Congress and BJP engaged in a war of words after prominent leaders, including Mallikarjun Kharge, Sonia Gandhi, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, and Manmohan Singh, refused to participate in the event. The move also follows the central government and several states declaring a half-day holiday for schools and offices to mark the historic occasion.

In other Congress-ruled states, such as Karnataka, the BJP has been advocating for a holiday on Monday, expressing disappointment over the state’s reluctance to make a decision on the matter.
