Gangtok: In a heroic act highlighting the readiness and capability of the Indian Armed Forces, more than 800 tourists stranded due to heavy snowfall in East Sikkim were rescued. Trapped persons, including the elderly, women and children, found themselves trapped in severe weather conditions and had little hope of immediate assistance. However, the Indian Army, known for its courage and dedication, stepped in to ensure their safety.

An army statement said the tourists stranded due to bad weather included women, children and the elderly. Not only were they rescued and brought to a safe place, but they were also provided shelter, warm clothes, medical aid and hot food. Soldiers vacated their barracks to accommodate the stranded tourists.
