Lok Sabha 2024: RJD Nominates Lalu Yadav’s Daughters, Misa Bharti and Rohini Acharya, for Bihar

The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) has revealed its list of 22 candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in Bihar, scheduled to be held in seven phases starting from April 19. Among these candidates are Misa Bharti and Rohini Acharya, daughters of former Bihar CM Lalu Prasad Yadav, who will be contesting from Pataliputra and Saran constituencies respectively.

Rohini Acharya’s Political Debut

Rohini Acharya, known for her vocal stance on social media and active criticism of her parents’ political opponents, will make her political debut in the Saran Lok Sabha constituency. Her father, Lalu Prasad Yadav, introduced her to the public during a recent Jan Vishwas Rally in Patna. Rohini also gained widespread admiration for donating one of her kidneys to her father during his kidney transplantation surgery in December 2022.

Misa Bharti’s Return to Pataliputra

Misa Bharti, a familiar face in Bihar politics, will once again contest from the Pataliputra constituency. She has previously served as a Rajya Sabha MP for the RJD but faced defeats in her previous attempts to secure the Pataliputra seat. Ram Kripal Yadav has been representing the Pataliputra constituency since 2014, defeating Misa Bharti in both the 2014 and 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

Saran Constituency’s Political Significance

The Saran Lok Sabha seat holds significant historical and political importance in Bihar, being the birthplace of Jay Prakash Narayan. Lalu Prasad Yadav has been elected as the MP from Saran four times, starting his parliamentary career here in 1977. However, after his conviction in the fodder scam, his wife Rabri Devi contested from Saran in 2014 without success against Rajiv Pratap Rudy.
