Indore: An official said that a man shot dead a woman and her male friend with a pistol and then committed suicide with the same gun in Indore city of Madhya Pradesh on Thursday. Police suspect that the incident may have been the result of a love triangle.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Hrishikesh Meena said media that the accused was identified as Abhishek Yadav (26). He used a country-made pistol to fatally shoot the woman, Snehlata Jat (22) and her friend Deepak Jat (25) at the Swaminarayan Temple complex on Khandwa Road.
He added that he then shot himself with the same pistol, which has been recovered by the police. The police officer said that prime investigation revealed that this tragic incident seems to be the result of a love triangle, but investigation is on to find out the real reason behind the murder.
Rishikesh Meena said that the accused is a resident of Sehore district of Madhya Pradesh. According to eyewitnesses, the three kept talking for about 30 minutes, after which the matter went out of control and a murder-suicide took place.
Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Anand Yadav said, “Abhishek Yadav and Snehlata had become friends two years ago. However, recently Snehlata had started distancing herself from the accused, which upset him.” The accused first fired two bullets at Deepak Jat.
The police officer said that a frightened Snehlata Jat clung to him, after which he fired two bullets at Deepak too. He said that after killing both of them, Abhishek Yadav ran into the campus of a private college, where he placed the pistol on his temple and pressed the trigger.
