MP: Woman brutally tortured, chilli powder thrown into eyes and mouth over property dispute

Guna/Madhya Pradesh: In a bone-chilling incident, a 24-year-old man has been arrested for brutally assaulting a woman and torturing her after tying her up in Madhya Pradesh’s Guna district. The two were in a relationship for some time, the police said.

The accused, who was the woman’s neighbour, reportedly had his eyes on her property, which was under her mother’s name. When the woman refused to hand over the property, the accused beat her up, threw chilli powder into her eyes and mouth and sealed her mouth with adhesive.

The victim was admitted to the district hospital in critical condition where she continues to receive medical treatment. Her condition is said to be serious due to the inhuman treatment meted out to her.

The woman’s father had passed away, and their ancestral home was registered in her mother’s name.

The victim revealed that the accused was her neighbour. He had his eyes set on the victim’s ancestral property and wanted the registration of the property to be transferred to his name. When the victim resisted, she was subjected to physical assault.

The police arrested the accused based on the victim’s statements and investigations have been initiated based on the victim’s account.

Speaking to India Today TV, ASP Maan Singh Thakur said that the incident took place on Tuesday. The victim and the accused had been in a relationship for the past two years, which had turned sour recently.

The police also seized illegal liquor from the accused’s residence.
