In a pivotal development ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is slated to begin a four-day visit to Delhi today. His agenda includes discussions with top BJP leaders to hammer out the National Democratic Alliance’s (NDA) seat-sharing arrangement for Bihar.
With the Election Commission of India scheduling the polls for the 40 Lok Sabha seats in Bihar across seven phases from April 19 to June 1, the urgency to finalize the seat-sharing deal is palpable. Among these seats are the significant constituencies of Arrah, Begusarai, Patna Sahib, Pataliputra, Kishanganj, and Hajipur, where the BJP-led NDA secured a clean sweep in the previous elections.
Nitish Kumar’s arrival in the national capital this evening marks a critical juncture in Bihar’s political landscape. While discussions around seat allocation are expected to dominate the agenda, Kumar’s reintegration into the BJP fold earlier this year adds further significance to these deliberations.
The timing of Kumar’s visit suggests that the seat-sharing announcement may be imminent, signaling a consolidation of alliances within Bihar’s political arena. The Chief Minister’s presence in Delhi underscores the ongoing efforts to finalize the distribution of seats amidst recent meetings both in the national capital and Patna.
In parallel, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav is also scheduled to be in Delhi today for crucial discussions with the Congress and Left parties regarding seat-sharing. With negotiations underway, a formal agreement is anticipated in the coming days.
Tejashwi Yadav, in his recent address during the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra in Mumbai, highlighted the stakes of the upcoming elections, expressing confidence in the RJD’s preparations. He underscored concerns over Bihar’s development under the NDA’s tenure, emphasizing the need for change.
