Senior JDU Leader Offers Explanation for Party’s Exit from INDIA Alliance

After a period of uncertainty, Nitish Kumar has parted ways with the Opposition INDIA alliance and reunited with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), marking his fifth shift in alliances over the past decade. Kumar cited his inability to collaborate effectively with the Rashtriya Janata Dal in Bihar and the Congress at the national level as the reasons behind his decision to resign.

The Chief Minister, after consulting with party members, claimed that the untenable situation within the coalition prompted his departure.

The Janata Dal United (JDU) has officially terminated its alliance with the Congress, placing the blame on them for the collapse of the INDIA alliance.

Party spokesperson KC Tyagi accused the Congress of attempting to seize control of the coalition’s leadership.

Tyagi alleged a conspiracy involving the Congress and Mamata Banerjee of Trinamool to “usurp the leadership” of the alliance.

“Mallikarjun Kharge’s name was proposed (as PM face) through a conspiracy during an INDIA alliance meeting on December 19. Through a conspiracy, Mamata Banerjee was made to propose Kharge’s name as the PM face. All other parties have made their own identity by fighting against Congress,” said Tyagi.

JDU further accused the Congress of disrupting the seat-sharing process, making disproportionate demands on allies, and subjecting other leaders to humiliation. The party contends that the Congress’s actions were detrimental to the cohesion and efficacy of the INDIA alliance.

“Congress kept dragging the seat-sharing; we kept saying that seat sharing needs to happen immediately. INDIA lacked plans to fight against BJP,” Tyagi remarked.

Earlier today, Nitish Kumar submitted his resignation to Bihar Governor Rajendra Arlekar. The Governor has requested Kumar to serve as the caretaker Chief Minister until a new government is formed. Kumar has also presented a letter of support from BJP legislators, and the Governor has accepted it. Nitish Kumar is poised to return as Chief Minister for the ninth time.
