Srinagar security forces bust JeM terror module; 4 terrorist associates held, arms seized

Security forces on Saturday achieved a significant breakthrough in Srinagar, dismantling the Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terror module by arresting four associates linked to the banned outfit. The operation, based on precise intelligence, led to the seizure of a huge cache of weapons, which is an important step in the counter-terrorism efforts in the region.

Srinagar: Security forces on Saturday achieved a significant breakthrough in Srinagar, dismantling the Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terror module by arresting four associates linked to the banned outfit. The operation, based on precise intelligence, led to the seizure of a huge cache of weapons, which is an important step in the counter-terrorism efforts in the region.

Acting on specific intelligence, a joint operation involving Srinagar Police and security forces was launched. A mobile vehicle check post (MVCP) was set up in Kenihama area on the outskirts of Srinagar, where a vehicle carrying four persons was stopped. Those arrested were identified as Mohammad Yasin Bhat, Sheraz Ahmed Rather, Ghulam Hasan Khandey and Imtiaz Ahmed Bhat. Their apprehension has dealt a major blow to Jaish-e-Mohammed’s operational capabilities in the region.

A large arsenal as well as incriminating material was recovered from the arrested persons. The seized items include one AK 56 rifle with three magazines, 75 rounds of 7.62 x 39 mm ammunition, one Glock pistol with two magazines, 26 rounds of 9 mm ammunition and six Chinese grenades. The recovery of these items has not only foiled potential terrorist activities but also provided valuable information about the functioning of the terrorist organization.

Preliminary investigation has confirmed the links of the arrested individuals with Jaish-e-Mohammed, underscoring the threat posed by such organizations to peace and security in the region. A case has been registered under various sections of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, Arms Act and IPC, further investigation will delve deeper into the network and operations of the terror module. This operation underlines the tireless efforts of the security forces to combat terrorism and ensure security in Jammu and Kashmir.

This successful operation is a testament to the effectiveness of the intelligence and security mechanisms in the area. This is not only a big blow to Jaish-e-Mohammed but also a warning to other terrorist organizations operating in the region.
