Tamil Nadu: FIR registered against state BJP president K Annamalai for promoting religious enmity

Tamil Nadu: A case has been registered against Tamil Nadu BJP president K Annamalai at Bommidi Police Station in Dharmapuri district. Cases were booked against Annamalai following his altercation with a group of Christian youth who prevented him from entering a church at Bommidi.

Tamil Nadu: A case has been registered against Tamil Nadu BJP president K Annamalai at Bommidi Police Station in Dharmapuri district. Cases were registered against Annamalai following his altercation with a group of Christian youth who prevented him from entering a church at Bommidi.

According to the police, he has been accused of allegedly promoting religious enmity between two groups. Bommidi police in Dharmapuri district registered a case against him under sections 153 (A), 504, 505 (2).

The incident happened outside St Lourdes church on January 7 during the former IPS officer’s ‘En Mann En Makkal’ padayatra (foot march) in the district. The state BJP chief has been booked under three sections of the IPC related to promoting religious enmity, disturbing public peace and promoting ill-will between sections of people within a place of worship.

Following the clash a man identified as Karthik who hails from Bonmidi filed a complaint accusing Annamalai of attempting to create a communal clash between Hindus and Christians. Cases were registered against the BJP leader over his altercation with a group of Christian youth who objected to his entry into the church during his rally En Man En Makkal outside St. Lourdes Church at Bommidi near Papireddypatti on Sunday.
