Tamil Nadu: Several irked passengers stage protest as Chengalpattu-Bound Train gets halted for hour

Several irritate passengers on Tuesday staged a protest against the station master after a train from Chennai to Chengalpattu via Singaperumal temple was stopped for an hour in the Singaperumal temple area. This comes after several wagons of a goods train got derailed near the Chengalpattu railway station in Tamil Nadu on Monday night.

Chennai: Several irritate passengers on Tuesday staged a protest against the station master after a train from Chennai to Chengalpattu via Singaperumal temple was stopped for an hour in the Singaperumal temple area. This comes after several wagons of a goods train got derailed near the Chengalpattu railway station in Tamil Nadu on Monday night.

In the video shared by sources, a massive crowd can be seen at the railway station. Irked by the delay in being able to resume their journey, passengers held a protest against the station master.

A goods train that was coming towards Chennai Harbour carrying iron-related rods derailed near Chengalpattu last night. The incident unfolded at around 10.30 pm. More than five coaches have derailed, said Railway Officials. Railway Officials were working to clear the track and regulate the train movements.

Due to the derailment of the goods train, passenger train services were affected on the stretch on Monday.
