New Delhi: On Tuesday, the elder daughter-in-law of party chief Shibu Soren Sita Soren switched allegiance and joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) hours after resigning from the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM). Sita Soren’s resignation from the JMM came amid an intense political drama in Jharkhand
Notably, she has also tendered her resignation from the post of MLA. Sita Soren is a three-time MLA and wife of the former Chief Minister’s elder brother, Durga Soren, who died in 2009 at the age of 39.
Earlier in the day, Sita Soren tendered her resignation from the party, citing allegations of being sidelined along with her family. In her resignation letter written in Hindi, Sita Soren said that since her husband’s death, she and her family have been constantly disrespected.
She added,”We have been separated and isolated by members of the party and the (Soren) family, which has been extremely painful for me.” Sita lamented and said she was feeling neglected and reluctantly decided to tender her resignation from the primary membership of the party.
She further said that “despite tireless efforts by JMM supremo Shibu Soren to keep us all together, I came to know that a deep conspiracy is being hatched against me and my family”. She added, “I have become aware of a conspiracy being orchestrated against me and my family. I am left with no choice but to tender my resignation.”
