In a significant political move ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, Jharkhand’s Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Jai Prakash Bhai Patel has officially joined the Congress, expressing his commitment to advancing the ideals of his late father, Tek Lal Mahto. Patel, who previously represented the Mandu assembly constituency, emphasized his desire to fulfill his father’s aspirations for the state of Jharkhand, asserting that he found resonance with the Congress’s ideology.
Following his transition to the Congress, Patel pledged his dedication to bolstering the I.N.D.I.A bloc in Jharkhand, highlighting his resolve to ensure victory for the alliance in all 14 Lok Sabha seats in the state. His induction into the Congress took place at the party’s headquarters in the presence of prominent leaders, underscoring the significance of his joining.
There are speculations that Patel could be nominated by the Congress to contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections from the Hazaribagh constituency. This move signifies a strategic maneuver by the Congress as it prepares to navigate the electoral landscape in Jharkhand.
The political landscape in Jharkhand witnesses further shifts as reports suggest that another BJP leader, former Madhupur MLA Raj Paliwal, is also contemplating joining the Congress. Additionally, Sita Soren, a three-term MLA and former member of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), recently switched allegiance to the BJP, citing neglect and isolation within her former party.
